Classic Grilled Cheese

I know you don't need a recipe, but it here it is nonetheless. I LOVE a grilled cheese sandwich and there are many, many exotic variations. But, here is my version of a classic. It just takes three ingredients to get to deliciousness: 1. good wheat bread, 2. sharp cheddar cheese, and 3. cook it in butter.

Classic Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 slices wheat bread
  • 5 thin slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter

Directions

Preheat a saute pan over medium high heat for 3 minutes then add half a tablespoon of butter until fully melted. Meanwhile, completely cover one slice of bread with the sliced cheese in a single layer. Align the second piece of bread on top. Drop the heat to medium, place the sandwich in the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 3 minutes. Lift sandwich and place remaining butter in pan, cook the second side of the sandwich until golden brown, approximately 3 more minutes. If the heat is too high, adjust accordingly.
