Restaurant Review: White Duck Taco

August 16, 2011 by my1stwordwaschocolate in "restaurant", "review", "tacos"

The food boards have been buzzing about this new Asheville restaurant located in the River Arts District,

White Duck Taco. I knew we had to try it ASAP.

Between me, my husband and my son, we had the Bangkok shrimp taco, two honey-roasted duck with mole tacos, the banh mi chicken, and two sides: green chili and lime black beans and watermelon with mint. The duck taco came with lettuce, crispy fried onions and a green onion crema. And, the banh mi was shredded chicken with the usual veggie toppings. I only had one bite, so I'd need to go back to try that one more fully.

Those were good, but the real standout was the Bangkok shrimp. The shrimp taco featured crispy fried shrimp tossed in a sweet-spicy glaze, homemade pickled cucumber and carrots and a spicy mayo. It was the perfect combination of crunchy, salty, sweet and spicy!

The space is River Arts chic, slightly rundown, but cute and appealing. It's definitely a new go-to lunch place especially when the weather is nice and I get to sit outside.
